Built for people who love radio.
GrabRadio is a radio recorder for Android. You tell the app what to record and when, and you listen to the show whenever it suits you.
The story
I kept missing my favorite radio shows because life gets in the way. A program starts at 7am, or noon on a Tuesday, and unless you happen to be free right then, you miss it. Podcasts solved this for on-demand audio, but live radio is different: the spontaneity, the hosts, the local feel. I didn't want to give that up.
Existing solutions were clunky, expensive, or just didn't work reliably with internet radio streams. The few tools that existed felt like they were designed by engineers for engineers, not for someone who just wants to catch a show they missed.
So I built GrabRadio: a simple radio recorder that just works. You tell it what to record and when, and it handles the rest. No fussing with stream URLs or schedules. Just your shows, waiting for you when you're ready.
How GrabRadio works
GrabRadio records right on your phone. At the scheduled time the app starts by itself, even with the screen off, and saves the station's live stream as a plain audio file. Your phone needs power and internet at that time.
There is no server and no cloud your recordings pass through. Files are stored in the Download/GrabRadio folder by default. Play them in the app, share them, export them or open them in any other player. No proprietary format, no lock-in.
What we believe in
Simple by design
GrabRadio does one thing well. No social layer, no algorithm, no notifications demanding your attention. Record a show, listen to it later. That's it.
Private
No account, no analytics, no in-app ads. Your recordings never leave your phone, not even for transcripts.
Fairly priced
14 days of everything for free, then a free version that stays useful. Want more? Choose an affordable subscription or a one-time purchase with no subscription.
A real person
GrabRadio is a one-person project from Berlin with no investors pushing. Some things take longer, but you're talking to someone who cares about the app.
